Courtney's Blog

Our Room 9 teacher Mrs Douglas is pregnant and is going to have twins. They are going to be two cute girls and we are going to get a new teacher called Miss Moorhouse. Mrs Douglas is going to leave on Friday. Our class is going to have a party on Friday. My friends Lani, Maddie and Goergia are going to do the chicken dance with me. Our class is going to bring lots of yummy food for the party. I am going to give a card to Mrs Douglas and one to Miss Moorhouse when she starts teaching us for the rest of the year.

Olive Picking Friday 6 June

Olive picking is a senior student tradition at C.T.S. We have a grove of our very own olive trees planted in the school grounds. Every year our wonderful caretaker (Stan Carter) collects the olives and takes them to be pressed and made into olive oil. This olive oil is a great fundraiser for the school and provides a wonderful experience for the children!
A special thank you to all of our parent helpers.

Friday Sport

Friday sport is soooo much fun. Heaps of people do hocky and mini ball but my favourite is hockey.
"Peeep!" the whistle goes. Time to start. I start traveling with the ball but Bronte snatches it off me.
Then I have to swap to goaly. "Bang I whack the ball over to center court.
We have heaps of people in hockey from all over the school and 7 people from my class.
Those people are Courtney, Olivia, Georga Jessica, Megan, Yasmin, & Breeana.
The people who teach us hockey are Mrs Douglas, Tina, and Nicola.
With hockey we need a mouth guard and a hockey stick.
Hockey is done on the field with a tennis ball so no one gets hurt because some of us don't have a mouth guard yet.
Everyone enjoys hockey sooooooo much.
It's a great school sport and really energetic.

We are going into a competition to win $10,000 for our school for sports gear and other stuff. Some room 9 students will collect in New World Supermarket dockets for our school. We hope we will win. If you can help us, please send your dockets along to school!

Hurricanes poster

For about three days I have been working extremely hard at reading time on my hurricanes poster. I have found lots more of facts about hurricanes and I got to do a fun project. I have learnt to tell when a hurricane is coming and the difference between a hurricane and a tornado. I love arts and crafts so this was a really great project to do and I know more about hurricanes.

Spooky Castle Poems

Under the deep moat
A vampire sleeps
In the spooky castle
A giant spider peeeps

In the dead mans chest
A crystal killer lay
A banshee sceamed a warning
In the boiling day

By Tristram

Under the rotten corpse
The dead bat lay
In the spooky castle
The ghosts talk and moan and this is what they say

In the disgusting attic
There's an eye of a newt
Careful not to look at it
It will make you puke

Kayaking at Marahau Camp

Room 9 spent an exciting week kayaking, abseiling, swimming, and tramping on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park. The weather wasn't fantastic but the activities were and children came away keen to stay longer and with very fond memories! Special thanks to our brilliant parent helpers and lead teachers.
